Style pyramid

In modern society, as you know, they are greeted by their clothes. A well-chosen wardrobe demonstrates your status and character, gives confidence and attracts the attention of others.

A successful, business man should definitely watch how he dresses. And the higher the status, the more serious is the approach to the choice of clothes. This article will focus on business style. It is he who is most often associated with success and high social status. This style is suitable for those who work in such areas: business, finance, insurance, consulting, government service, law, and holds leadership positions.

The main characteristics of the style

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a business style is a formal suit, shirt and tie. In fact, it is so, but if you delve into the topic a little deeper, you can find a lot of details that are not taken into account by all.

The main guidelines of a business style are restraint, brevity and practicality. It’s not always about fashion, but more about the quality and appropriateness of each wardrobe item in a given situation.

When choosing a business image, a lot depends on what company a man works for, what position he holds. The determining factors here are the rules of the office dress code and what a man generally seeks to convey with his clothes.

For example, if we are talking about a 35-40 year old man holding a high position, his clothes should demonstrate a responsible approach to work and emphasize status. This means that here we have to see expensive high-quality fabrics, flawless fit, strict cut.

Options for different occasions

Most large companies have their own dress code rules to follow. Considering the general rules of business style for the office, it is worth noting the following patterns:

  • Neutral suit colors: black, gray, dark blue, beige, brown.

  • A laconic print is allowed, for example, in the form of stripes.

  • Light-colored shirts. Not necessarily white, but it is important that the shirt is lighter than the suit.

  • In some cases, shirts with striped prints or even a small check are acceptable.

  • A tie is quite often present in business outfits, but it is not always a mandatory attribute.

  • Quality classic shoes: oxfords, derbies, monks or loafers.

A business style can be followed not only at work. After all, there are several directions that are appropriate for different cases.

For informal events and no-tie meetings, you can go for a more relaxed semi-business style. In such cases, a jacket and formal shoes are required. You can wear a colored shirt, but not a bright one, it will make the image softer and will be conducive to communication.

A casual business style also assumes some composure, but already allows for more relaxed shoes, combinations of a jacket and a turtleneck are permissible. Classic suit trousers can be replaced here with jeans and worn with a jacket.
