Elegant casual style

Not every man attaches importance to this element of the wardrobe, which is very reckless: poor-quality socks, besides the fact that they wear out quickly and do not always sit comfortably, can create a lot of other problems. Too thin fabric will provide you with regular calluses, poor-quality material will impede air circulation, promote the growth of fungi and bacteria and provoke an unpleasant odor.

Choosing the right socks

No matter how strange it may seem, there are many nuances to consider even when choosing socks.

Good socks should have the same thread thickness and the heel should be made of heavy-duty material. The elastic should sit comfortably: not to press, but not to be too loose. It is unlikely that it will be possible to determine the quality of the fabric by eye the first time, but this is not necessary. It is enough just to understand the marking on the product label. Sock Composition Tips:

  • 65% ̶̶ cotton, 35% ̶̶ silk is the best option. The material is lightweight and durable at the same time.
  • 100% ̶̶ mercerized cotton - this material is very durable, breathable, does not cause allergic reactions. And if such socks have the Bodyfresh mark, this is even better - the inscription says that the material is treated with aromatic halogen substances that kill fungi and bacteria.
  • 70% ̶̶ wool, 20% ̶̶ cotton, 10% ̶̶ Coolmax are socks for the cold season. The Coolmax mark indicates that the material repels water and also prevents unpleasant odors.
  • 50% ̶̶ cotton, 50% ̶̶ mercerized cotton - the cotton layer in these socks is on the inside, which provides comfort. And the mercerized one is on the outside, this ensures durability and aesthetic appearance of the product.
  • 70% ̶̶ cotton, 30% ̶̶ linen - a universal option for any weather. In the heat, flax cools, and in the cold, it warms. In addition, the material is very durable and dries quickly.
  • 70% ̶̶ cotton, 30% ̶̶ Termolite is another excellent option for the winter. Termolite fiber retains heat well, and moisture in it accumulates in the outer layer and evaporates quickly.
  • 90% ̶̶ wool, 10% ̶̶ silk - lightweight, pleasant to the touch and durable material.
  • 95% ̶̶ bamboo, 5% ̶̶ Elite (thin nylon). The fiber is made from bamboo core. It can absorb 60% ̶̶ more moisture than cotton, and it allows air to pass through much better than cotton. It has an antibacterial effect and is durable.

Socks length

The well-known rule says that no strip of skin should be visible between the leg and the toe. In the modern world, this rule is no longer so categorical, however, when it comes to dark socks and a business suit, one should not deviate from it.

Men's socks can be of regular length, high (up to mid-calf), as well as short sports socks. You will need a pair of high socks with a business suit and classic shoes. Most likely, there is no need to decipher the purpose of sports. For all other occasions, standard length socks are fine.

Socks color

Standard gray, black and white colors are the basis of the sock palette in the arsenal of the vast majority of men. However, they will not work in all cases.

The color of the socks matches the color of the trousers, not the shoes. This must be remembered. The color does not need to be 100% the same, but the hue and temperature must be the same.

Socks, like shoes, should not be lighter than trousers.

If you decide to experiment with color options, be aware of the color temperature and the appropriateness of this technique as well. Colored socks can be a stylish accessory in a casual outfit, but they are unlikely to be a good match for a business suit.

It is always worth remembering that good taste is hidden in the little things. Well-groomed, expensive shoes will tell a lot about their wearer, but bad socks can easily ruin everything.
